I know, a lot of people hate it when others bring in things from other social sites like Tumblr or something, but this really needs to get a signal boost.
(I'll try to keep it to the point...)

If you're not aware of the site WeHeartIt, I encourage you to head over there for just 30 seconds in the link below. If you do know of this site, then I'm sure you already know what I'm about to get on about.

It's full of things you might find on Instagram or Tumblr on a busy day. A few modeling photos here, some inspirational quotes there, someone might have posted some clothing designs, etc. You'll also find that none of the images there are sourced and hardly anyone cares about it unless they're the original artist. Many a time have artists tried to get copies upon copies of their artwork removed from that site, but nothing was ever done. Not even a measly little response from whoever runs the site. It's frustrating to have to see your own art get re-posted all over the internet and no one knows you created it because someone edited out your name/signature or removed the source URL. Sure, they've tried (I use this loosely) to make sourcing images a bit more favorable to content creators, but it never fails when someone re-posts artwork on another site and then along comes someone else who sends it to WeHearIt, thus continuing the cycle of lazy crediting.

Think of it like this: It's just as bad, if not worse, as if you stumbled across someone who took your artwork and re-posted it here on dA just because they didn't read the rules or didn't realize that dA is for posting your own art. Goodness forbid you encounter someone who posts things they like from around the internet and buck up on you for daring to call them out on their misdeeds...

Now, they only need about 900 more signatures last time I checked, so please show your support if you want. All they ask of you is your first and last name, a verified email account, and your place of residence. If you don't agree with the petition, then you don't have to sign it. Thank you for reading.

Petition on…

So um yeah...I'm just your average daydreaming otaku~ I've always liked deviantART & its artists because it's the first place people go to get inspiration for new projects or just to admire something new. I'm an amateur extraordinaire~ X3

(or on one of my off-site accounts...there are currently 3 other sites where I post my art)

Hey there my darling :3 We haven't spoken in a while have we :3 So how are you and how is life :3

If you ever need someone to talk to I am here~!
I'm pretty good~ I know right? I'm just working and studying a lot, so dA is on my way back burner... But hey, at least I'm making money. I'm taking a standardized test before summer classes start, so everyone is on my bum about it. (I just want to play games now lol.)

Thanks~ I'm mostly available on Skype, so if I don't respond here, I can PM you my Skype name if you want.

Hahaha,  funny that you mention that term, you know, I'm currently also in "I know the feels" status. My latest work - the wall with the Criminal Girls took 70 hours to make, if I count vectoring all the characters...and it was totally beat by a wallpaper which had a character cut out from a screenshot, and the background was probably made in 15 minutes. THE FEELS. Just cause that was from K-On! and mine is a unknown PSP game. My stupid nature that I wage war against overrated mainstream series with rare ones.
Btw I have a hunch where we have met, say, you are also pissed if ppl submit anime scans and everybody praises them how amazing artist they are...? Lmao.
Aww... Well, people do relate to familiarity more often than change. Which reminds me of that comment Hayao Miyazaki made about the current state of the anime industry: (Something along the lines of) "otaku are making anime for other otaku instead of stories for the everyman." I will admit though, it feels awesome when you find a hidden gem of media that later on becomes widely popular~ You'll have your day.

Why, yes, I believe we met under those circumstances. My jimmies do get rustled whenever I see art theft and the user has the nerve to accept praise for it... But then I realize that they'll never get anywhere by just blocking me and continuing what they're doing. And neither will I if I dwell on the negativity of the encounter. I just have to keep practicing and leave them in the dust~

Take is easy, we don't need to hide our guestbooks from our "fans" at least. On the fault are also the peers, not being able to differ a scanlation from member-made digital art. I also use scans as resource material and working with them since 6 years made me able to recognize one in seconds.
Unfortunately this is a drop in the ocean, whole DA is now full of scans, renders and stolen art from Pixiv. The fun will start when Pixiv will take action, cause they do that and in hard way.
We also used to have some wallpapers based on pixiv art and we needed to take them off despite that we credited them in full and only the characters where used. Luckily I never had any.

Thanks for the fave. Funny that you found exactly one of my oldest works. Luckily not many look at them anymore, cause I have times when seeing my skills 5-6 years ago, I wanna break my own hands...
but nostalgy still wants keep them. If I would have a 3-4 months break from work, i would remake them all.

PS. Your Muttley is lovely, I really enjoyed that show. Too bad that americans cannot make good shows anymore, at least nothing what could rival to anime.
You're welcome~ I went ahead and read the other descriptions from your latest submissions and I had a look through your gallery. (Which is why I made the remark about your descriptions~) I know the feels. I went through some of my old sketchbooks and while I did cringe multiple times, I really had a burst of nostalgia and motivation to do better.

Thank you~ I was sketching him in class one day when some mates said they really liked it and watched me finish the drawing. I will agree that a lot of the shows on American Cartoon Network aren't as great as the classics nor have as big an audience as anime today... But I do hope we'll make a comeback soon. Until then, we do have a channel called Boomerang that plays the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons and other golden oldies 24/7.
